As the summer air rushes into Summerville, running enthusiasts are getting the itch to strap their shoes on and hit the pavement. If you need a little motivation to breathe life into your jogging regimen, why not choose one of these great racing events in Summerville 2022 for spring and leave the competition in the dust (or sand). 2022 Shamrock Shuffle

This year the Shamrock Shuffle will begin bright and early on March 12th, 7 am. Hosted by the Summerville YMCA, it is a one-mile fun run that includes a 5k and 10k course. The funds raised by the event will go to support wellness in our community, teaching children to swim, helping local cancer survivors, and improving the quality of life for those in the area. Racers meet at 208 West Doty Avenue, so show your green-side and hit the trails!

2022 Cooper River Bridge Run

On April 2, 2022, the world-class Cooper Ridge River Bridge Run 10k walk/run is being held in Mount Pleasant. It is an amazing organizational run that is being put on to help promote the health and wellness of our community. A wonderful scenic course, participants will race around breathtaking-choked views from every angle, and end in historic Downtown Charleston. The Bridge Run, which started in 1978, has grown substantially over the years and now touts over 40 thousand participants from all over the nation. It is for world-class athletes to newbies, with an elite wheelchair division, yet still a great race for the entire family. The Cooper River Bridge Run is an organization committed to giving back to the community by supporting local promotions and fundraising for 12 various charities all around Charleston. Run Cane Bay 5k & 10k 2022

This year, the Run Cane Bay is back again with vengeance. We are proud to announce that the Run Cane Bay is once again in-person. It begins at the Cane Bay YMCA, circles around the Cane Bay Plantation Trails, and ends right back where you began to meet up with friends and family supporters. A fun and quick course, it is a perfect challenge for newbies and seasoned veterans alike. The multi-use trails make their way through beautiful scenery and tunnels with a section that is off-road, so watch your steps. After crossing the finish line, there is a celebration for the participants with vendors, food trucks, and local brews. You can reserve your spot ahead of time, or pay the morning of. Come out on March 19th, 2022, and join us!

Hope Lope 5k

The Hope Lope 5k on Johns Island is being held on March 26th, 2022. It is the third year “running,” and benefits H.O.P.E. Acres Rescue. It is a “hybrid” racing event, so you can choose to run at Mullet Hall or run from anywhere local. If you decide to participate at Mullet Hall, there will be food trucks and music after the event to celebrate your march over the line. There is no timer, so it is a great event for everyone! Once more, your furry family members are welcome to trot along. The kickoff party is being held at Bohemian Bull on Saturday, March 19 from 1 to 5 pm. The Brakemen will be making the event and gracing us with live music and there are tons of raffle items to compete for. It is an excellent time to hang out with community members while raising money for an amazing organization. Mark your calendar today!

17th Annual We Are Sharing Hope SC Race for Life

On April 9th, 2022 the 17th Annual Race for Life will be held in Folly Beach. It is a wonderful and scenic race for ocean lovers everywhere. Starting at Folly Beach Pier, there is a 10k, 5k, and Hero at Home virtual race that is calling your name. The event funds go to support education for organ and tissue donation, so it is a great race for a great cause. Dogs are also welcome, just make sure to keep them leashed. The event is a perfect family function, so make sure to pick up your packet at Firehouse Brewery on February 27th and 28th from 3 – 8 pm to be eligible to participate. Or, you can pick up your race-day packed on race day at the James Island County Park at 7 am sharp.

Run to the Table 5k

Held in the City of Beaufort on May 7th, 2022, the Run to the Table 5k is a perfect event for athletes of all levels. Starting at 8 am, participants will meet on Bay at Newcastle Street to begin the race. The course is USATF Certified: SC18010DW and Grounded Running will be the officiants keeping time. After racing over the yellow strip, take part in the Taste of Beaufort to quench your hunger, and of course, your thirst. It is sure to be an incredibly fun event for people all across Beaufort and Beyond!

The 16th Annual Beaufort River Swim 8k-5k Weekend Challenge

What is better than race day? Race DAYS! Held on June 3rd and 4th of this year is a competitive run and swim event that will have participants bracing for the refreshing, yet cold, Beaufort River. The 1-mile swim is combined with an 8k road race, which is a perfect test for those looking to try their hand at a triathlon this fall! It is a fast and flat course that is perfect for those who wish to train for more great events when the colder air rushes into the area.
